The Artist (portrait of Jamie), photography by Dorothee Elfring (http://www.boudoir-fotografie.de/en/blog.html)
As a professor of psychology at the University of South Florida, Jamie researches big existential questions, and in particular she explores ambivalence that surrounds the human body. These same themes are the focus of Jamie’s artwork. Women’s bodies, especially, are the subject of many of Jamie’s paintings. With her painting, as with her research, Jamie examines the surface in detail, and then she delves beneath it.
Her artwork has been exhibited in various galleries around Tampa Bay. Currently a number of pieces are exhibited and available for purchase at Georgia Matilda Home and Blue Moon Trading Co in South Tampa, Treehouse Gallery in St Petersburg, and Tampa Bay Interiors in Dunedin.
In addition to her painting and academic career, Jamie also recently published her first novel, Finding Jolie, available through amazon.com.
